So I finally tried some Penzance that I've been aging since 2011 and I have to say, I'm a little disappointed. Now granted I've only smoked it in two different pipes, one bowl each, but I was really expecting a wow moment off the bat. I had some Penzance back in 2011 when it was fresh. I remember enjoying it and then putting it away thinking it would be even better with age. But it isn't. The flavor is just dull. Not that savory, sweet, smoky flavor I remember and what I enjoy about most good English blends. Just bland heat. Do you think my pipes just need to get more accustomed to this blend? I'm using pipes I've dedicated to English blends. Any thoughts?
