A Forums member recently posted a question about new possibilities for sculpture/craft ideas after an impending relocation. For him, and others who have home shops and the inclination, here's a notion. Is think there could be a market for automobile hood ornaments. Detailing and customization is always an active hobby. It's a revenue stream for products. I think many car owners might be interested in adding a tasteful (or in some cases exuberant) hood ornament. For starters, I'd do something low key, appealing, durable, and easily attached with two bolts. It has to be weather-worthy. It can't rust out. It can't have edges that are problematical when opening the hood, especially in a rain storm by the side of the road. I'd avoid Rolls-Royce or Mercedes looking ornaments. The idea is something classy, with pizzazz. I think they'd sell better if they are noticed only after a second looks, and fairly streamlined not to distract from the driver's view. Just an idea. Not something I can do, with other interests and projects to pursue. I'm tossing it out there, in case it catches on with someone. You could start by selling a selection to an auto parts dealer, and maybe online.
