I purchase estate pipes ( garage sale type, but with no major damage ) on eBay to restore myself. Only had one issue in the past 5 years and I received a full refund because of ebay's purchase protection policy. Right now I'm in the process of restoring a 1935-1938 Wally Frank Oom Paul. The stem still needs the oxidation removed, very time consuming too do it properly. The nomenclature on the briar is outstanding. Needs a retort and just a buffing with Carnuba wax. The Wally Frank markings ( deep and crisp ) is one of the best I've seen in a while. When I'm done with the restore I will post some pictures or a video. The way this briar was originally partially rusticated was well crafted. Paid less then $20.00 delivered and my neighbor already is bugging me to buy it once it's done. His Birthday is in October so this pipe and two tins of tobacco will make a nice gift. Last month I purchased a Canadian Lovat that was made in the early 60's and never smoked. That one cost under $20.00 delivered. All it needed was an alcohol cleaning and Carnuba wax buffing. Now ask me if I would purchase a high priced pipe on eBay....NOT!
eBay has its place
KEEP ON PUFFING!!!!!
